ABOUT OUR PILLOWS
What are the advantages of buckwheat hull pillows?
Buckwheat hulls have several advantages over traditional pillow filling like foam or feathers. Most significantly, buckwheat hulls do not collapse under the weight of your head. They provide excellent support for your head and neck. The buckwheat hulls conform perfectly to the unique shape of your head and neck. This allows the weight of your head to be evenly distributed, which will prevent any undue stress on the muscles in your neck. In addition, buckwheat hulls do not conduct or reflect heat like other popular pillow filling types. They’re breathable, allowing warm humid air to quickly escape, keeping you cool all night long. Using a zippered opening, the buckwheat hull filling can be added or removed to provide the thickness you prefer. Buckwheat hulls are also an economic choice – they tend to have a much longer life span than most pillow filling types.
Where are SleepHard pillows made?
SleepHard's current stock of buckwheat hulls were grown in North Dakota. All our buckwheat hulls are milled and triple air-cleaned. Every SleepHard pillow is handcrafted, in small batches, assembled and shipped from Chicago, IL. Thank you for supporting American businesses!
Will the buckwheat hulls comes out of my pillow and make a mess?
No. Your buckwheat hulls won't escape the pillow. The hulls are contained in a zippered inner case and have a second layer of containment with the zippered outer case as well. Our zippers are constructed with a custom "zipper garage" such that a tight piece of fabric securely covers the end of the zipper closure to ensure nothing will get in or out of your pillow.
How do I keep my pillow clean?
Our pillow is designed with an inner case and an outer pillow case. When it's time to clean, just unzip the outer pillowcase and remove the inner pillowcase containing your hulls. It's not necessary to clean the buckwheat hull filling. Wash and dry your outer pillowcase however you normally wash your pillow cases..
Could I be allergic to buckwheat hulls?
Buckwheat pillows are considered hypoallergenic. The hull is the outer shell of the buckwheat seed, so there is no actual food product contained within your pillow. Our hulls are triple air washed to remove any dust and debris and ensure they are completely clean.
Are SleepHard pillows treated with any flame retardant chemicals?
No, our organic cotton materials and buckwheat hulls are never treated with any flame retardants or chemicals.
